International Women’s Day (IWD) is a time to celebrate women’s achievements in the past. It is also a time to think about the opportunities (and lack thereof) they have today, and strive towards creating a more inclusive world in the future. This display highlights women’s achievements and work across the ages in many areas: science, technology, the arts, music, and literature, as well as in politics and labor.

Join us for an inspiring talk with Kung Tsz Shan Janet, the sixth-ranked ice climber in the world, as we celebrate women's achievements in honor of International Women's Day! Growing up in a concrete city devoid of snow, Janet discovered her passion for mountaineering during a Scout exchange in Canada. Despite facing numerous challenges, including limited resources and bureaucratic obstacles, she pursued her dreams with grit and determination. In 2022, she made a courageous decision to resign from her nursing job and chase her passion in Nepal, reigniting her competitive spirit.

As a program committed to gender equality and fostering inclusive excellence, HKUST EMBA continues to empower women to break barriers and shape the future.

This International Women's Day, we proudly present an inspiring story of resilience and innovation. Meet our two trailblazing alumnae who defied stereotypes to carve their paths in the tech industry: Ms. Cindy CHEN, founder of Dapu Technologies, and Ms. Maggie YANG, founder of Z·Pilot.

"Be My Buddy Buddy" Roving Exhibition is an interactive exhibition seeks to foster a broader conversation on menstrual issues and advocate for gender equality. It aims to engage the audience in an interactive exploration of menstruation-related knowledge. The exhibition contains five themes, namely "Global," "Public Space," "Workplace," "Family," and "Self," aim to provide not only physiological knowledge on menstruation but also shed light on global phenomena such as menstrual poverty and gender inequality. Join our guided tour and movie screening & sharing workshop to discover more on the topic. (Students and staff of all genders are welcomed!)

The topic of the forum is “Challenges vs Chances for Women in Innovation”. The forum is open to our faculty, students, staff and secondary schools.
Why are there so few women in STEM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics)? Does it matter? If so, what can be done about it? This talk is about personal observations from the speaker’s career, advice she would give to her younger self, and suggestions for creating group cultures that encourage critical thinking, lifelong learning, and leverage diversity of thought and skills.
