Observed throughout the world, (including in China, where it is a national holiday) in 1975 the United Nations declared March 8th to be International Women’s Day.

International Women’s Day is a time to look at women’s accomplishments and struggles in the past and to think about the opportunities (and lack thereof) they have today, as well as the contributions that women will make in the future.

This display highlights women’s work and achievements in science, technology, the arts, music, and literature, as well as in politics and labor. Celebrate International Women’s Day throughout the month of March by taking something to read, to listen to, or to watch.
