On March 8, the International Women’s Day, we are presenting an hour of empowerment, with presentation by accomplished scholars and sharing by business leaders on diversity and gender equity in society and in the workplace. In celebration of the International Women’s Day (IWD), HKUST Staff Association (SA) is honored to present a luncheon talk by Dr Sabrina Lin, Vice-President for Institutional Advancement of HKUST, to share her journey, through thick and thin, to be a highly accomplished corporate executive and an adventurous mother of four children.

Why are there so few women in STEM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics)? Does it matter? If so, what can be done about it? This talk is about personal observations from the speaker’s career, advice she would give to her younger self, and suggestions for creating group cultures that encourage critical thinking, lifelong learning, and leverage diversity of thought and skills.

Organized by Asia’s top engineering schools, this workshop aims to bring together young female professionals in engineering disciplines, including scholars, researchers and engineers interested in exploring and advancing careers in academia, for scientific and career-oriented discussions relevant to the development of women academic leaders in Asia.
